Cool Hunting’s pop-up in the Gap’s 54th Street gallery space
In the past month or so, the city’s retail landscape has remade itself for the holidays. Editors from Real Simple, Wired, and Cool Hunting have launched pop-ups filled with their favorite seasonal gifts. A little slice of Boerum Hill has suddenly sprouted on the Upper West Side, and a Lower East Side favorite has staked a claim on Tribeca. Bryant Park, Columbus Circle, Grand Central Terminal, and Union Square have been taken over by booths selling chocolate, knit hats, and scented candles. And this weekend sees the launch of a store so incredibly impermanent that it takes place in a moving car.
To help you keep track of all these temporary ways to spend your money view this map of holiday 2010 pop-up shops, listed roughly from north to south. Everything on there is currently open except for the Artists & Fleas extension, which goes live this weekend. Since this is such a transient topic, we’ll update often over the next few weeks. Got one we missed?
