Border’s to open 25 Pop-Ups…

The New York Times reports that Border’s will be making a push to sell e-readers and books during the holiday season.  What I found interesting is that most of the temporary stores will be in locations in where they closed permanent stores.  The model of temporary retail, or what I call “quicks”, makes more sense than operating stores year round at a loss.  The company will call the stores, “Border’s Express” and described them as scaled down versions of the regular retail outlets.  The store sizes will be approximately 2,500 square ft. and carry a limited assortment addressing holiday shopping.

I like that it creates JOBS in this economy and that it promotes business/sales in surrounding permanent stores as well. -CN
